When I looked at you
Feral and free
You were smiling and smiling
I couldn’t have asked for more
We were high on life
We rolled and ran
Everything was tinted smooth
Everything was tinted warm
So take me back on your ship
Soft as velvet
From the Cradle Mountain
To the darkest depths of your love
You are a seamstress
You are a sorcerer
I’m just staring at a wet road in the night
Streetlights reflecting up to dark, dark skies
I don’t hold a grudge against distance
Nor feel resentful of time
When you’re not standing with me
I have you close at mind
Love is a bridge
And your voice sees me clear
For when I watch and listen
You’re all I see and hear
So take me back on your ship
Soft as velvet
From the Cradle Mountain
To the darkest depths of your love
You are a seamstress
You are a sorcerer
I’m just staring at a wet road in the night
Streetlights reflecting up to dark, dark skies
Love is a bridge
And your voice sees me clear

Desert Star Watchers

Heaven's gonna send a spaceship
To take us all away
We've been here for quite some time
But it was never intended for us to stay
So hold your hands up to the sky
And wait for the light
To strike you right between the eyes
In the darkness of the night
We are the desert star watchers
We are the night sky watchers
We are the desert star watchers
Stare with us at the beauty
Of this ever-changing light
When our friends arrive
There will be no more question
Of fight or take flight
The world - it moves so slowly
But the end is now in sight
Our master says that our money's good
So tonight will be the night
We are the desert star watchers
We are the night sky watchers
We are the desert star watchers
Do not fear
For I'll be here
I'll take your hand
You'll be safe from harm
Just put this on
It's made from things
That we've stolen
From your mother
Come with us up on the hill
And we'll watch the sun setting for the last time
The birds will fly overhead
As the sky turns from blue to red
We are the desert star watchers
We are the night sky watchers

Farrago

I watched you walk down the shoreline
Stumbling like a baby-boychild
Contrary to everyone's advice
You were swinging a bottle of cheap red wine around your head like some crazy bum
You were laughing and crying and falling all over the sand
You took one look at us, smiled and then ran in the sea
Where the waves overtook you then took you way off to one side
Where the rocks were so large but they didn't provide any shelter from the raging tide
God knows how you survived
But now you're a symbol of how we get by in this life
Farrago, every time I look at you I see the pain in your eyes
I feel the heat even when you're not standing next to me
You think that you can fool us wearing that old disguise
Open the cage
And fly away
You're a confused collection of things you dreamt as a kid
A random selection of ideas in a brown paper bag
A disastrous collision that you won't be able to walk away from, love
It's just a feeling, please tell me I'm wrong, but I think I'm right
Don't force yourself to put your life down in writing
Or take from the country, to take on the city like you're supposed to
I've seen your sad reflection as you fly blind
Directly into the sun
Pretending you're having fun like all the rest
But you'll never fool us
Wearing that old disguise
just open the cage and fly away
